AndScene Privacy Policy
Effective June 17, 2026
The short version: Your scripts, recordings, and audio live on your device. We send your script PDF and the dialogue lines off the device only so we can read your script and voice your scene partner (the voicing is done by a third-party provider, ElevenLabs), plus crash and diagnostic reports to help us fix bugs. We have no accounts, no ads, and no tracking, and we never sell your data.
This is a private, invite-only beta. AndScene is still in testing, so diagnostics are turned on to help us find and fix problems.
What stays on your device
Almost everything. The following is stored only in the app on your device and is never uploaded to us:
- Your imported scripts and the characters and lines parsed from them.
- Your recorded self-tape videos ("takes").
- The AI partner audio cached for playback.
What we send off your device, and why
AndScene makes only two kinds of network requests, both over a secure (HTTPS) connection to our own backend:
- Parsing a script. When you import a script PDF, we upload it to our server to pull out the characters and dialogue lines.
- Voicing the lines. To generate your AI scene partner's speech, we send the dialogue line text and voice settings to our server. To turn that text into audio, our server uses ElevenLabs, a third-party voice provider, which returns the spoken audio. This means your dialogue text passes through ElevenLabs. We do not send names or identifiers with it.
Crash & diagnostic data (beta only). To find and fix bugs, the app sends crash reports and performance diagnostics (such as hangs, CPU, and disk usage) to Sentry and via Apple's MetricKit. This is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising or tracking.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, logins, sign-ups, or passwords.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers (no IDFA).
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, and no cross-app tracking.
- No location, no contacts.
- We do not sell your data, ever.
- Speech recognition runs on your device. When the app listens for your cue lines during rehearsal, that audio stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Permissions we ask for
AndScene requests these only when you use the related feature, and you can change them in your device Settings at any time:
- Camera — to record your self-tape video.
- Microphone — to record your audio while you perform.
- Speech Recognition — to detect your cue lines and auto-advance the scene (processed on device).
- Photos (add-only) — to save your finished video to your photo library. The app can add videos but cannot read your existing photos.
